I am horrible at tracking my mileage. Really, really horrible. As in I never remember to do it. Ever.
My job does not require a great deal of travel. Perhaps a trip or two every other week to the bank or the post office. However, as I'm being contacted by more and more local clients, I see that this is changing. Whenever possible I try my best to meet clients face-to-face. And I have noticed that when doing this, a better working relationship is created.
So, I'm finding myself traveling a little bit more, and I think that it's important that I track my milage, both for reimbursement/bookkeeping and just personal curiosity.
And it's important that you do the same. Going to the craft store to get more buttons for your handmade stuffed animals? Track it. Taking your haul to the post office for shipping? Track it. Track everything!
To help us both out, I've created a neat little business mileage log download. I plan on keeping one in my glove compartment, along with a working pen. Pretty papers always make me a bit more productive.
